miLE 0: The Start

I sit here about 5 days from the first big trip I will have taken in my life by myself.  In some ways I’ve been working on this trip for 4 months and in other ways I’ve been working on it for 10 years.  This isn’t to say I haven’t traveled or been to multiple countries. After all, I have lived in several countries and traveled with my parents to many more.  This, however will be the start of recording of my own adventures and experiences.

I thought I would create these blog posts based on the miles I travel.  Of course Mile 0 means I haven't left yet but by the end of this week you will see a huge jump.  This will let me put my travels in a good perspective as well - maybe I can have an initial goal of reaching 100,000 miles and then keep going.

Now why am i doing this? Well I hope to use this blog for a couple things. First is of course to keep a history of all my experiences and hopefully share them with those that can't travel for whatever reason.  The other is to show the readers what life is like outside of our bubbles that we live in and hopefully gain understanding of what and whom is out there.   And please send me recommendations on what to do and see, what to eat and more importantly, where the best dessert spots are.

Now what I will also be doing is writing about my experiences in finding and booking travel, packing ideas, must haves and more so stay tuned for those as well.  Also to me traveling doesn't have to mean international so anytime I go to a new place or eat at a cool restaurant here in the US I will be sure to let you know.

Now you're probably saying, Manoj stop blabbing and tell us what this trip is about.   Well, I'm not going to.  Where is the fun in that?  I'd rather you see and experience where I'm going and what I'll be doing when I'll actually be there.  What I will say is that I'm starting and ending my trip in London, mostly because of the ridiculously cheap flights I was able to buy from Orange County - <$600 round-trip!

On that note I haven't even begun to pack yet so thanks for taking the time to read this.  If you stick around I'm sure you will see and hear about some pretty cool adventures.

See you at the next miLE!
